PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Fans heading to Moda for Portland’s first-round series against San Antonio will have to wear their own Trail Blazers’ gear to show their pride.

Ahead of the playoffs, KATU Sports Anchor Guillermo Motta spoke with Team President DeWayne Hankins. It was during that interview that Hankins confirmed that the team will not be making special playoff T-shirts for the series.

“Playoff t-shirts?” Motta asked.

“Playoff, no, not this year. We’ll see what happens with that,” said Hankins.

The Trail Blazers have made playoff shirts during past postseason appearances. The team is returning to the NBA postseason for the first time since 2021. And even back then, with COVID-19 restrictions and limited capacity inside the arena, T-shirts were made.

As you can imagine, the social media reaction to the no-shirt news was swift, numerous and brutal.

Coincidentally, and perhaps adding salt to the wound, the San Antonio Spurs unveiled their playoff T-shirts on X with the caption “Playoffs Ready.”

But while fans may be a little disappointed about not getting to commemorate this improbable playoff run with a T-shirt, the Blazers’ Alternate Governor Sheel Tyle teased that another surprise is in the works.
