Austin Reaves (oblique) is out for Game 3 between LA and Houston.

The Los Angeles Lakers will continue to sideline Austin Reaves.

Ahead of their Game 3 showdown in Houston against the Rockets, the Lakers announced that Reaves (oblique) will be unavailable to play.

The wait continues across LA, as Reaves will be shelved by the Lakers this Friday. He was initially listed as questionable.

The undrafted star has made tremendous progress in his recovery after sustaining a Grade 2 oblique complication in early April, causing him to miss the final five games of the Lakers’ regular season.

Reaves’ status moving forward in this first-round series will largely depend on the upcoming result of Game 3 for the Lakers against the Rockets. They are up with a comfortable 2-0 lead after winning the first two games in Los Angeles.

Reaves averaged a career-high 23.3 points with 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 51 games for the Lakers this past regular season.

Before the Lakers’ final status declaration around Reaves, the Rockets had already ruled out Kevin Durant (ankle) for Game 3.
