Bobby Portis doesn’t believe in Shams Charania’s report that Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t involved in the Bucks’ head coaching hiring process for Taylor Jenkins.
As the 2025-26 season ends early for them, the Milwaukee Bucks didn’t waste any time identifying their newest head coach, officially tapping Taylor Jenkins.

Following Doc Rivers’ decision to step down from his head coaching duties, Jenkins will inherit a Bucks team that endured its most challenging year in 10 years, missing the NBA Playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
As it is, Shams Charania of ESPN was the one who broke the news about the Bucks finalizing their deal to hire Jenkins as the franchise’s head coach, interestingly noting that Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t actually involved in the team’s process of landing the former Memphis Grizzlies mentor.
Apparently, Bobby Portis thinks otherwise in his recent appearance on Run It Back.
Jenkins served as an assistant for Mike Budenholzer during the 2018-19 season for the Bucks before ultimately leaving to accept the Grizzlies’ head coaching gig.
Considering this, Antetokounmpo still has some significant familiarity with Jenkins, whether he played a key role in Milwaukee hiring the 41-year-old or not.
Jenkins will rejoin the Bucks after leading Memphis from 2019 until his abrupt dismissal before the end of the 2024-25 NBA season.
