MILLINGTON, Mich. (WNEM) – The Cardinals have new head honchos for both their Boys and Girls Basketball teams.
Former Assistant Ethan Brady was promoted to head coach for the Varsity Boys team and former JV Girls Coach Brandon Weakman is moving up to lead the Varsity squad.
Coach Brady graduated from Millington in 2019 and played for the Cardinals on both the hardwood and the football field, so he knows what it means to wear that red and white.
“Oh it means everything,” said Brady. “Millington is a football school you’d typically say so being a basketball player here is definitely a little tougher but I mean, all of these kids buy in to everything they want to do so it means everything.”
Coach Weakman played baseball and basketball at Meridian High School and recently has been coaching youth sports in Millington and he has a credo that he’ll look to bring to the Varsity team.
“My girls know, they’re well aware from last year, I have a “don’t wish for it, work for it,” said Weakman. “I have used that ever since I played, when I played college baseball I lived by that quote. You know, you can’t just wish to be great, you have to work to be great.”
Both coaches will be looking to leave their mark on Millington Basketball and lead the Cardinals to success in the Winter.
