For the second straight season, Mizzou men’s basketball takes the court against Kansas on a Sunday.
The Jayhawks unveiled their nonconference schedule Wednesday, featuring the 273rd meeting of the Border War against the Tigers on Dec. 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Kansas City. The tipoff time will be determined at a later date.
The fifth consecutive meeting between the two foes will be their penultimate matchup for the foreseeable future.
After the rivalry was paused for nine years because of Missouri’s move from the Big 12 Conference to the Southeastern Conference on July 1, 2012, the two teams created a scheduling agreement to renew the feud in 2019.
The current contract has the 2025-26 and 2026-27 season matchups at the neutral site remaining.
Mizzou stunned the Jayhawks in last season’s meeting, downing then-No. 1 Kansas 76-67 on Dec. 8, 2024, at Mizzou Arena for the Columbia squad’s first Border War and top-ranked win since 2012 and 1997, respectively.
Former Tigers guard Tamar Bates led the team to the historic triumph with a game-high and season-high 29 points to go with one rebound, an assist and five steals on 9-for-15 shooting from the field.
MU returners Mark Mitchell and Anthony Robinson II rounded out the team’s double-digit point scorers with 17 and 11, respectively. The former added four rebounds, one assist, a steal and three blocks, while the latter posted four rebounds, three assists and five steals.
Despite MU securing the victory, Kansas still holds bragging rights over Mizzou all-time. The Jayhawks boast a 175-96 series record over the Tigers and are 8-2 in the teams’ last 10 matchups.
Missouri’s only other officially announced game for the 2025-26 campaign is its season opener against Howard on Nov. 3 in Washington.
