Jayla Forbes, a 6-foot-7 post player out of Florida, announced Thursday that she will be the first member of UT’s 2027 recruiting class. In an Instagram post, Forbes wrote that she was “beyond grateful to announce that I have committed to the University of Texas. … Thank you to the Texas coaching staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career at such an amazing program. I’m excited for this next chapter.”
ESPN rates Forbes as the No. 13 recruit in the Class of 2027 while Rivals also sees her as a top-20 talent. Among rising high school seniors, Forbes is regarded as the second-best post prospect.
