The city of Los Angeles is often thought of as enemy territory for the Boston Celtics. However, several members of the Green Team have been using the sunny metropolis as a meeting spot during the offseason.
In an interview with Bobby Manning of Celtics CLNS, point guard Payton Pritchard revealed that both first-year and veteran Celtics have been in L.A. to train together, golf together, and simply get to know one another better. Pritchard said guard Derrick White, point guard Mike Conley, wing Sam Hauser, and star forward Jayson Tatum all recently came through the City of Angels. Nine-time All-Star Paul George — who was just traded to the Celtics this offseason in exchange for five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown — was also present, which makes sense given that he owns a house in L.A. and played for the Los Angeles Clippers for five seasons.
“It was good,” Pritchard described of his time in Southern California. “It was good to be around the guys and really just hang out, be in the gym a little bit.”
Many of the aforementioned Celtics are big golfers, so it’s no surprise that they hit the links this summer. Of course, there was work to be done as well. And while no training clips have surfaced online, the C’s were still working out in the gym and on the court.
In fact, Celtics center Luka Garza mentioned in a recent interview that his head coach, Joe Mazzulla, was headed to L.A. to box alongside Tatum. Moreover, Celtics rookie Chris Cenac Jr. just posted an Instagram story of him on the Los Angeles freeways.

“I think some guys are coming out there now, too,” Pritchard said while at his basketball camp in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
The next time the Celtics travel to Los Angeles will be in 2027, as they face the Los Angeles Lakers in downtown L.A. on Thursday, January 7, and then square off with the Clippers in Inglewood on Saturday, January 9.
But, long before those games, the Celtics will open up the 2026-27 regular season in about two months on Tuesday, October 20, when they square off with the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena.
