Waltham barber cuts hair for France’s World Cup stars in Boston
Coco Fernandez, known for Celtics clientele, styled “Les Bleus” legends
WALTHAM, Mass. —
A Waltham barber known for cutting the hair of Boston Celtics stars added international soccer royalty to his client list during the World Cup.
Coco Fernandez got his start giving $5 haircuts in the cafeteria at MassBay Community College. After a few months, he pivoted to barber school and later launched his own mobile barber business, MOBAR, and quickly made a name for himself.
After cutting Terry Rozier’s hair, his clientele grew to include other Celtics players Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. In 2020, he opened a brick-and-mortar shop in Waltham.
When France’s national team arrived in Boston, Fernandez was asked to travel to their hotel to cut hair for Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué.
The experience turned the lifelong basketball fan into a France soccer supporter.
