Potential Role in 2026-2027: Arguably the most overlooked player on the OKC squad due to being drafted right after the Thunder winning the 2025 NBA Championship, sitting out his first Summer League, missing his entire first season due to an ACL injury and then not playing in his second possible Summer League. But as I’ve said in this space before, the young big man has a chance to become the Thunder’s next breakout player. His possible two way impact and his year of experience with the team might place Sorber above Aday Mara in the backup center pecking order. Mark Daigneault will find minutes for every player on the team, and the Oklahoma City head coach rewards hard work, effort and defense. Sure, it’s possible Sorber racks up DNP’s and OKC Blue appearances, but there’s also the possibility that he forces himself into the nightly rotation, a la Ajay Mitchell.
