The revamped Philadelphia 76ers traveled to Boston on Saturday for a preseason matchup against the Celtics, but newly acquired superstars Jaylen Brown and LeBron James did not play.

While Brown was not in the lineup, he was in the building and did participate in warmups before heading back to the locker room.

Brown, 29, is a five-time all-star. He spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Celtics, winning one championship in 2024.

Brown is coming off the best season of his career, averaging 29 points per game and leading the Celtics to the two seed in the Eastern Conference when Jayson Tatum missed most of the year. Brown finished 6th in MVP voting.

Paul George, who was acquired by the Celtics in the Brown trade did play on Saturday night against his former team.

Boston routed Philadelphia 144-106, pulling away with 80 points in the second half. Jayson Tatum scored 23 points on 9-of-19 shooting for the Celtics, while George had 13 points on 3-of-10 shooting.
