The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Dec. 17 that rookie Jared McCain underwent successful surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee. McCain suffered a lateral tear in the meniscus in his left knee and he is officially out indefinitely.
With that being said, one has to wonder how long McCain will be out for. The leading candidate for Rookie of the Year posted a vlog reaction video on his YouTube with a little clip of it going viral on social media of him saying he’s out for the year.

A couple of things to consider here are McCain is probably dealing with the emotions of the surgery and he is just probably venting. The Sixers have not yet announced any timeline for the rookie as everybody is still going through the process of trying to find the right path of recovery.
On the flip side, a quick Google search states that a typical recovery from a meniscus repair is somewhere around 4-to-6 months. When considering that timeline, that puts a possible McCain return in April with the season already over. The playoffs will begin by then, but who knows if he will be ready to go at that time. Also, McCain will likely be handled with the utmost care as he is such a young player with the potential to have a long career ahead of him.
Therefore, it is fair for one to assume that McCain is likely out for the year, but there is no official timeline for him just yet. One has to let everything run its course before a decision is made at this point in time.
