Dwight Howard<\/a> was ejected Saturday during his BIG3 debut for getting into a fight with former NBA player Lance Stephenson<\/a>, BasketNews relays<\/a>. The scuffle began after Howard, who plays for the Los Angeles Riot, appeared to get elbowed in the chest by Stephenson of Miami 305. Howard swatted Stephenson\u2019s arm away, and they began exchanging punches (video link<\/a> from Ballislife.com).<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not exactly how I pictured my debut going,\u201d Howard said in a statement released by his team.<\/p>\n

Stephenson was also involved in an incident with L.A.\u2019s Jordan Crawford<\/a>, BasketNews adds. After a brief confrontation, Crawford put his hand in Stephenson\u2019s face and touched his nose. Stephenson responded by throwing a punch, but both players stayed in the game.<\/p>\n

Howard, an eight-time All-Star and a member of this year\u2019s Basketball Hall of Fame class, is one of the most significant names ever to join the BIG3, which is now in its eighth season.<\/p>\n

\u201cDwight\u2019s legacy speaks for itself,\u201d league co-founder Ice Cube said. \u201cHe still has fun playing the game \u2026 and now he gets to show his full skill set in the BIG3.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Jordan is looking forward to joining the NBC Sports broadcasting team when the network resumes covering the NBA this fall, announcer Noah Eagle said during an appearance on the Awful Announcing Podcast with Brandon Contes<\/a>. Jordan will serve as a special contributor<\/a>, but his duties haven\u2019t been defined. Eagle said NBC Sports executive Jon Miller, a longtime friend of Jordan who arranged his hiring, told him that the NBA legend is \u201clegitimately excited.\u201d \u201cAnd I asked him, I said, \u2018Is he legitimately in on this?\u2019 And he was like, \u2018Yes, he\u2019s fully, fully in,\u2019\u201d Eagle said. \u201cWhatever that means is great. I have no idea what he\u2019s going to be doing, but I just love the fact that I can walk around and be like, \u2018You know my colleague?\u2019 \u2018Who\u2019s that?\u2019 \u2018You know, Michael Jordan. No big deal. Just a Hall of Famer. Some would say he\u2019s the greatest basketball player ever, but, yeah, he\u2019s also my co-worker.\u2019\u201d
