The\u00a0Golden State Warriors<\/a>\u00a0have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA — a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego.<\/p>\n

To commemorate the players who wore those numbers,\u00a0Warriors<\/a>\u00a0Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the 16th of 27 players who wore the No. 15 jersey for the\u00a0Warriors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That player would be Golden State guard alum John Mengelt. After ending his college career at Auburn, Mengelt was picked up with the 21st overall selection of the 1971 NBA draft by the (then) Cincinnati Royals (now, Sacramento Kings<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The Lacrosse, Wisconsin native also played for the (then) Kansas City-Omaha (now, Sacramento) Kings, Detroit Pistons<\/a>, and Chicago Bulls<\/a> before he signed with the Dubs in 1981 for the last stop of his NBA career, just two games.<\/p>\n

During his time suiting up for the Warriors<\/a>, Mengelt wore only jersey No. 15 and put up no counting stats.<\/p>\n
