If you\u2019re a Lakers fan hoping for Kessler, it\u2019s not looking great. In Marc Stein\u2019s latest <a href=\"https:\/\/marcstein.substack.com\/p\/the-nbas-latest-trade-talk-and-contract\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stein Line<\/a>, we got some new information on the Walker Kessler situation.<\/p>\n<p id=\"zjGWWw\">From Stein:<\/p>\n<p id=\"7yU0pp\">Finding a front-line center remains a clear offseason priority for the Lakers, who have maintained a longstanding interest Utah\u2019s Walker Kessler. <\/p>\n<p id=\"hvRdzA\">The Jazz, though, have made Kessler unavailable for some time, which might have contributed to reports last week that suggested L.A. has interest in trading for Kessler\u2019s teammate John Collins.<\/p>\n<p id=\"Pu82AP\">Collins had a strong 2024-25 campaign, but I\u2019m told any suggestion that the Lakers are a trade suitor for the 27-year-old is a mischaracterization<\/p>\n<p id=\"386b1q\">So it appears that the Jazz have made Kessler \u201cunavailable for some time.\u201d Maybe that changes down the road, but it does look like Kessler is going to be a part of the future for Utah. <\/p>\n<p id=\"ZPR6jX\">The Jazz have recently brought in Khaman Maluach for a workout, and he <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/debate-utah-jazzs-draft-strategy-high-risk-prodigy\/id390453558?i=1000713557977\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reportedly shot the ball well.<\/a> If Kessler is unavailable, it\u2019s interesting that they would bring in Maluach. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Duke center Khaman Maluach \u2014 one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft \u2014 has an upcoming pre-draft workout scheduled with the Utah Jazz, league sources tell <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheDraftstack?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">@TheDraftstack<\/a>.
