Interim GM Ben Tenzer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/06\/23\/nuggets-name-ben-tenzer-evpbasketball-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/06\/23\/nuggets-name-ben-tenzer-evpbasketball-operations\/\">was retained<\/a> in a new role of EVP of Basketball Operations, while former T\u2019Wolves exec Jon Wallace returned to Denver as EVP of Player Personnel. The Nuggets no longer have a GM position after the restructuring. Benedetto noted there is \u201cone way this works and another where it doesn\u2019t.\u201d The \u201cbest-case scenario includes a clear delineation of roles.\u201d Tenzer has experience working in sports agencies and has a \u201cfirm grasp on the salary cap.\u201d Benedetto wrote Tenzer should \u201cdeal with the business side of the basketball,\u201d while Wallace, who played alongside former NBAer Roy Hibbert and Rockets F Jeff Green at Georgetown, can use his playing experience to \u201chandle more of the scouting and team-building responsibilities.\u201d The way it does not work is if Tenzer and Wallace are not \u201droutinely on the same page with each other or new head coach David Adelman.\u201d Even if they have a \u201cclear separation of job responsibilities,\u201d there is going to be \u201cplenty of crossover, as it all exists in the same ecosystem.\u201d If President Josh Kroenke has to serve as the \u201ctiebreaker between the two VPs, the Nuggets could quickly effectively be run by the team president\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/denvergazette.com\/sports\/denver-nuggets\/why-denver-nuggets-new-front-office-might-might-not-work\/article_e5a539e2-4284-4e6e-9337-48c20243ec82.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/denvergazette.com\/sports\/denver-nuggets\/why-denver-nuggets-new-front-office-might-might-not-work\/article_e5a539e2-4284-4e6e-9337-48c20243ec82.html\">DENVER GAZETTE, 6\/23<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-franchises \">BACK TO THE FUTURE: In Denver, Mark Kiszla noted it only required 76 days for Kroenke to discover he could not \u201cfind one man in the entire NBA worthy and\/or willing\u201d to become general manager. He wrote to \u201cfill the vacuum,\u201d the Nuggets \u201cpromoted two minor leaguers, in the hope that Ben Tenzer and Jon Wallace can learn on the job quickly enough to maximize what\u2019s left\u201d of C Nikola Jokic\u2019s MVP prime. No delegations. No parsing. What the Nuggets announced instead risks too many layers, too many forms, too many meetings, too many cooks.\u201d He wrote it is a \u201cbit like that old chestnut about \u2018co-starting\u2019 NFL quarterbacks.\u201d Keeler: \u201cIf you\u2019re using two, do you really have any?\u201d He added the \u201cclock is ticking.
