Two Hoosiers who were teammates at Drake continue to make progress in their recovery from shoulder surgeries earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Tucker DeVries, a two-time MVC player of the year, and Conor Enright, who spent three seasons at Drake before transferring to DePaul, both underwent procedures earlier this year for season-ending injuries.<\/p>\n
DeVries played in just eight games last season at West Virginia before his injury forced him to miss the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n
Enright played in 23 games for the Blue Demons but was shut down after suffering a torn labrum that also required surgery.<\/p>\n
According to IU basketball coach Darian DeVries, Tucker DeVries has few restrictions as the Hoosiers move through their offseason program in Bloomington.<\/p>\n
\u201cTucker\u2019s pretty good right now,\u201d DeVries told Inside the Hall. \u201cI can\u2019t remember when the exact date of his surgery was, but he\u2019s done a really good job of taking the steps and has gotten to the point where, about that first week that we were back, he got cleared to do most everything and is now pretty much full go. I\u2019m telling him to be smart about some of the things that he\u2019s doing out there on the live contact stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 6-foot-7 DeVries is expected to be a centerpiece for the Hoosiers next season.<\/p>\n
Over 112 career games between Drake and West Virginia, the Waukee, Iowa, native has averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.<\/p>\n
DeVries is a career 36.7 percent 3-point shooter and 81.3 percent free-throw shooter. He made eight 3-pointers in an 83-76 win against Arizona last November in the Battle 4 Atlantis.<\/p>\n
Enright, a 6-foot-2 guard from Mundelein, Illinois, averaged 7.5 points, 6.2 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 30.1 minutes per game last season at DePaul, all career-highs.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, Enright told Inside the Hall that he planned to be 100 percent healthy by the middle or end of July.<\/p>\n
He remains on target for a full return in July, according to DeVries, who recruited him to Drake and coached him from 2021 through 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cConnor is pretty close,\u201d DeVries said. \u201cStarting to do some more little controlled live stuff but we\u2019re getting close. I would anticipate getting into July, he\u2019s going to be right there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Assuming there are no setbacks with either player, the hope is to have both available for the program\u2019s trip to Puerto Rico in August to play three exhibition games.<\/p>\n
