When we touched on the “Giannis Antetokounmpo next team” odds earlier this summer<\/a>, it was unclear whether he would even be leaving Milwaukee.<\/p>\n

As of June 4, the Bucks were -140 at DraftKings to have Giannis on their roster to start the 2025-26 season, and three teams — the Spurs, Rockets and Raptors — were 8-to-1 or shorter.<\/p>\n

Speaking of our June 4 takes on Antetotkounmpo and Kevin Durant, this feels like a good place to pat ourselves on the back for recommending Durant to the Rockets at +225<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Three weeks later, the DK odds in this market tell us that Antetokounmpo is unlikely to leave Milwaukee this summer.<\/p>\n

The Bucks currently being priced at -500 pretty much says it all, but it’s also telling that the team with the next-shortest odds to land him (the Knicks) is +600.<\/p>\n

We said in early June that we were “still a long way from Antetokounmpo — who is under contract with the Bucks through ’27-28, with a player option after the ’26-27 season — formally requesting a trade out of Milwaukee.” <\/p>\n

Three weeks later, it looks like “a long way” might have been an understatement.<\/p>\n

ESPN Brian Windhorst’s recent update on “Get Up” provided more reason to believe that Year 13 for Giannis will begin with the team that drafted him back in 2013.<\/p>\n

“Giannis has not asked for a trade, he is not available for a trade, today is June 23. These are facts. … The Bucks are in a challenging position to restructure that team and increase their ability to compete.”<\/p>\n

The Bucks’ current outlook is bleak, which makes it a bit surprising that Giannis trade speculation has simmered over the last few weeks.<\/p>\n

With Damian Lillard set to miss most of the ’25-26 season and Brook Lopez unlikely to be retained, Milwaukee’s roster will feature a lacking supporting cast around Antetokounmpo and Kyle Kuzma unless the Bucks are able to pull off a trade or free agent signing to upgrade the roster.<\/p>\n

Giannis alone probably makes the Bucks a playoff contender, but it’s worth noting that at DK, six teams currently have shorter odds than Milwaukee (+1800) to win the East (the Cavaliers, Knicks, Celtics, Magic, 76ers and Pistons).<\/p>\n

Despite that, it’s hard to imagine Antetokounmpo deciding to pursue a trade this offseason — if he wanted out, he would not have waited until after the NBA<\/a> Draft to make that known.<\/p>\n

Who Is The Best Bet To Trade For Giannis Antetokounmpo?<\/p>\n

Take the following with a substantial grain of salt, as we’ve hopefully made it clear that the most likely outcome here is no Giannis trade at all.<\/p>\n

But if you insist on betting on one of the potential Giannis suitors making a successful push for him later this summer, the Raptors make the most sense to me at +850.<\/p>\n

I don’t see the Knicks (+600) shaking up a roster that just reached the Eastern Conference Finals. And if the Spurs (+1200) were going to make a move for the Greek Freak, I think we’d have heard much more buzz about that possibility by now, with the 2025 NBA<\/a> Draft just over 24 hours away.<\/p>\n

The Raptors could at least make Milwaukee an intriguing offer. That’s especially true if they’re willing to part with Scottie Barnes, who is one of the top young players in the league after an All-Star 2023-24 season at the age of 22.<\/p>\n
