So, I mean, ain\u2019t nothing set in stone until tomorrow at 8 o\u2019clock (Brooklyn time).&#8221; <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harper, a 6-foot-6 combo guard, averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and four assists in his only season at Rutgers alongside fellow potential lottery pick Ace Bailey. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">While his destination remains up in the air, several media outlets \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/45559441\/2025-nba-mock-draft-latest-first-second-round-predictions-all-59-picks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/45559441\/2025-nba-mock-draft-latest-first-second-round-predictions-all-59-picks\">including ESPN\u2019s Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo<\/a> \u2014 consider Harper the No. 2 overall draft prospect and expect him to be drafted by the San Antonio Spurs. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In its capsule written about Harper, ESPN reported that the Spurs &#8220;have shown zero interest in engaging in trade conversations.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harper, who said his first NBA pre-draft workout was with San Antonio, could create a logjam at both guard positions. The Spurs drafted eventual NBA Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle a year ago and traded for quick-footed point guard De\u2019Aaron Fox during the 2024-25 NBA season. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cObviously, they\u2019ve got two guards, but I mean, positionless basketball is really a thing in the league now,\u201d Harper said. \u201cAnd you\u2019ve got a 7\u20324\u2033 big out there in Wemby (Victor Wembanyama). Great player, going to be a Hall of Famer. They\u2019ve got a lot of depth on that team.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harper went further in his praise of Wembanyama, describing it as \u201ca dream\u201d if he becomes his teammate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cHe covers the paint from arm to arm. He\u2019s really a force out there,\u201d Harper said. \u201cCan\u2019t no one really stop him; you can only try to contain him. Just from the standpoint of being a point guard, seeing all the lobs you can throw. He can bail you out of a lot of spots. How much he impacts the game, honestly, is amazing.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">If the Spurs draft him, one of the biggest changes Harper said he will experience moving from the Northeast to the Lone Star State is the hot weather. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">However, one aspect of San Antonio life he is ready for: the food. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI\u2019ve been to San Antonio, and I\u2019ve had a breakfast taco (both times). Both times, the breakfast taco was good,\u201d Harper said. \u201cIt\u2019s not as good as a bacon, egg and cheese (bagel), but it\u2019s right under (it). Texas is real hot, but it\u2019s definitely a great environment to be lowkey.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In all, the Spurs own the No. 2, No. 14 and No. 38 overall picks in this week\u2019s draft. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The first round of the NBA Draft is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday and will air live on KSAT 12.
