{"id":127990,"date":"2025-06-27T04:18:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T04:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/127990\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T04:18:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T04:18:16","slug":"lakers-trade-up-again-to-acquire-adou-thiero-at-no-36-in-nba-draft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/127990\/","title":{"rendered":"Lakers trade up again to acquire Adou Thiero at No. 36 in NBA draft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/lakers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Lakers;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Lakers<\/a> were busy making moves Thursday, doing all they could to move up in the second round of the NBA draft.<\/p>\n<p>Moving up to No. 36 in the draft with their second trade of the day, the Lakers acquired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/draft\/2025\/prospects\/adou-thiero\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Adou Thiero;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Adou Thiero<\/a> out of Arkansas.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>To get what many with the Lakers and around the NBA view as a \u201csuper athletic wing\u201d in the 6-foot-6 Thiero, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/lakers\/story\/2025-06-26\/lakers-trade-with-chicago-bulls-to-move-up-in-second-round-of-nba-draft\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Lakers first traded;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Lakers first traded<\/a> their 55th pick and about $2.5 million in cash to the Chicago Bulls for their 45th pick. (Jeff Haynes \/ NBAE via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>The Lakers and other NBA scouts compare the 220-pound Thiero to Knicks forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/anunoog01.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:OG Anunoby;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">OG Anunoby<\/a>, a three-and-D player that L.A.&#8217;s scouts thought might be drafted in the first round.<\/p>\n<p>Though the Lakers are in need of a center, they also need athleticism at the wing to play alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/lakers\/story\/2025-02-25\/los-angeles-lakers-dallas-mavericks-nba-game-recap\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Luka Doncic;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Luka Doncic<\/a>, and Thiero helps address that need.<\/p>\n<p>One scout said Thiero is athletic and will \u201ccatch lob passes\u201d from Doncic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt feels good. A dream come true,\u201d Thiero said. \u201cJust happy to be here. Playing for the Lakers, too, that\u2019s a blessing for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the Lakers&#8217; roster, Thiero said: \u201cLeBron! It\u2019s going to be fun learning from everybody. But you got Bron, you got Luka, AR (Austin Reaves). It\u2019s a lot of people on that team. I\u2019m just ready to get with the guys and work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And the Lakers were happy to go from No. 55 to No. 36 and not give up future assets to draft Thiero.
