Liam McNeeley\u2019s biggest cheerleader had a sweet reaction to the UConn star getting drafted Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the former Huskies freshman forward landed with the Charlotte Hornets at No. 29 overall<\/a> in the 2025 NBA Draft, McNeeley\u2019s girlfriend, Ryann Gleason, took to her Instagram Stories to commemorate the life-altering moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cSO PROUD,\u201d Gleason gushed from inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where she appeared to watch the draft festivities from the stands.<\/p>\n

A 6-foot-7, 210-pound prospect, McNeeley averaged 14.5 points, six rebounds and 2.3 assists in his lone season with the Huskies.<\/p>\n

He attended prom with Ryann Gleason in 2024. Instagram<\/p>\n

Liam McNeeley\u2019s girlfriend posted a heartfelt message after he was selected in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft. Instagram<\/p>\n

Gleason and McNeeley, 19, have been dating since at least 2024, when they shared a photo on Instagram from prom night.<\/p>\n

When McNeeley officially heard his name called, he warmly embraced mom Ashley<\/a>, who joined him for an interview with ESPN, where both were overcome with emotion.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wants to do the right thing for his team, and they will be thrilled to have him,\u201d Ashley said.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time McNeeley\u2019s nearest and dearest have dazzled audiences.<\/p>\n

During UConn\u2019s 2025 March Madness run, Ashley was prominently featured on the CBS broadcast<\/a> of the Huskies\u2019 second-round clash against Florida.<\/p>\n

UConn\u2019s bid for a third straight championship fell short in the 77-75 loss<\/a> to the Gators, who went on to win the national title.<\/p>\n

The Phoenix Suns were the original owners of the No. 29 pick in the draft, but sent it to Charlotte as part of their trade for center Mark Williams<\/a>.<\/p>\n
