Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy recently provided an update on the delicate situation. He expressed his desire to retain Kerr while respecting the coach\u2019s autonomy over his future decisions.<\/p>\n

The Warriors<\/a> executive emphasized his hands-off approach during a podcast appearance with Tim Kawakami. Dunleavy wants Kerr to make the decision that feels right for both parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn a personal level, I\u2019d love to have Steve locked in and know the certainty of that, because he\u2019s such a great coach for our organization, for our team,\u201d Dunleavy explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut also, with Steve, like he\u2019s earned that right at his age, all that he\u2019s accomplished. Not going to push him into anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dunleavy trusts Kerr\u2019s judgment about the timing of any potential departure. \u201cYou also want a coach like, if there\u2019s a time for him to step away, he\u2019ll know and he\u2019s going to do that based on what he feels is right for him, but also the organization,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
