The Titans went 23-7 a season ago and fell in the FCSAA D-I quarterfinals.

New head coach Zach Ferrell made an impression on Register that made his decision to start his college career there a no-brainer.

“Eastern Florida was just the best fit for me and everything,” Register said. “I love the coaching staff and already know some of the teammates. The school is known for sending guys to Division I. After a year of recruiting, they really caught my eye, they sent a lot of dudes to D-I last year and that’s what my goal is. Seeing that made me feel really good and I just feel like that is home to me. It’s in a nice spot and I feel welcome there already. It’s just a really good place for me and the best fit.”

At North, Register became the school’s all-time leading scorer, being a four-year starter for the Rangers and averaging a double-double his last three seasons.

After graduating from North in 2024, Register opted to go the prep route before going to the college ranks. He spent the 2024-25 season at SPIRE, where he averaged over 20 points and eight rebounds.

“North definitely helped a lot,” Register said. “But me going to SPIRE, having the college practices and schedule helped a lot and playing both with and against a lot of great people helped my development. The reason I went to SPIRE was just to improve on my game before college and to get even more college-ready. I feel like I have played with a lot of talent at SPIRE this past year, and I did it in order to help my recruitment out. A lot of thanks goes to my head prep coach (Jay) Slone. I feel like me taking that year at SPIRE helped me a lot.”

In his season at SPIRE, the team went 31-3 with Register winning the Ohio Prep College player of the year and was named a NERR Prep All-American.

Register had several Division I offers, including Drake, St. Peter’s and Northeastern. But he opted to play with the Titans, knowing they could boost his talents further.

Last year, Owen Aquino transferred from Eastern Florida to Liberty, where he helped the Flames to an NCAA tournament bid.

Register is excited to contribute to Eastern Florida’s success, with nine 20-win seasons in the last 10 years, and brightening his future prospects.

“I feel like I can definitely go D-I if I just play the right way, win games, trust myself and the coaching staff,” Register said. “Eastern Florida is known for sending people to D-I schools. A couple D-I schools told me and my SPIRE coaches they will recruit me if I went to Eastern Florida.”

Originally Published: June 28, 2025 at 3:44 PM EDT

Sean Register has yet to meet a basketball floor that he doesn’t like.
