Detroit \u2014 The Detroit Pistons have landed one of the league’s most reliable scorers and playmakers in free agent Caris LeVert, a source confirmed to The Detroit News on Monday.<\/p>\n

The Pistons and LeVert, the former Michigan star, agreed on a two-year deal.<\/p>\n

Known for his scoring and playmaking abilities, LeVert joins the Pistons as a seasoned veteran with 10 years of experience, having played a productive role for every team he has been with throughout his career. He most recently helped the Atlanta Hawks reach the play-in tournament following the team’s acquisition from the Cleveland Cavaliers.<\/p>\n

LeVert appeared in 26 games for the Hawks, averaging 14.9 points on 48.2% shooting from the field and 3.0 assists. He began his career as a first-round pick of the Indiana Pacers in 2016. He has averaged 14.0 points and 4.0 assists through 524 career games.<\/p>\n

LeVert signed a two-year, $32 million contract with Cleveland in July 2023 before the trade to Atlanta in February.<\/p>\n

The Pistons also have reached an agreement to bring back big man Paul Reed.<\/p>\n

Reed and the Pistons agreed on a two-year deal worth $11 million. A source close to negotiations confirmed Reed’s signing to The Detroit News. ESPN was the first to report.<\/p>\n

Reed provided the Pistons with reliable play throughout the 2024-25 season. He appeared in 45 regular-season games, averaging 4.1 points per game and 2.7 rebounds. However, his most significant contributions came during the Pistons’ first-round playoff series against the New York Knicks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the absence of Isaiah Stewart due to a knee injury, Reed averaged 10.6 minutes while averaging 3.0 rebounds and a steal against the Knicks.<\/p>\n

“We were fortunate that we had Paul,” president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon said after the season. “I think if we didn’t have a guy as talented as Paul, another player would not have been able to hold water like Paul did for us at that time.”<\/p>\n

Reed originally joined the Pistons after the Philadelphia 76ers waived him in July. He spent four seasons with the 76ers, where he appeared in 215 games.<\/p>\n

The 76ers drafted Reed in the second round in 2020. Reed’s best moment with the 76ers came in March 2024, when he recorded a career-best 30 points and 13 rebounds in a loss to the Denver Nuggets. Reed’s deal marked the Pistons’ first roster move during free agency.<\/p>\n
