Sometimes, news can be announced by the omission of information.<\/p>\n

That’s what the Philadelphia 76ers did in regards to second-year guard Jared McCain.<\/p>\n

The ‘Sixers announced their Summer League roster on Tuesday, and McCain wasn’t on it.<\/p>\n

McCain is still recovering from a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee, and evidently he isn’t ready.<\/p>\n

The 16th overall pick out of Duke in 2024 may have been the best rookie in his class until his season-ending injury.<\/p>\n

In 23 games for the 76ers as a rookie, McCain averaged 15.3 points and 2.6 assists per game.<\/p>\n

He also shot a strong 38.3% from 3-point range. If he can replicate that shooting even without the ball handling, that’s a potent combination.<\/p>\n

The 76ers are certainly smart not to rush McCain back. They’d much rather have him healthy for the regular season and not Summer League.<\/p>\n

It probably would’ve been a nice tune-up opportunity for him if he was healthy, given that his rookie season was cut so short.<\/p>\n

But at this point, Philadelphia won’t rush McCain, and he’ll be back when he’s ready.<\/p>\n
