{"id":149014,"date":"2025-07-05T12:33:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T12:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/149014\/"},"modified":"2025-07-05T12:33:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T12:33:11","slug":"caitlin-clark-loved-her-fever-coach-getting-technical-foul-and-offered-to-pay-the-fine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/149014\/","title":{"rendered":"Caitlin Clark loved her Fever coach getting technical foul \u2014 and offered to pay the fine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Caitlin Clark approved of Fever head coach Stephanie White picking up a technical foul late in their <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/04\/sports\/becky-hammon-rips-aces-after-losing-to-fever-in-27-point-beatdown\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">blowout win Thursday<\/a> \u2014 and even said she\u2019d pay the fine, according to White.<\/p>\n<p>White was yelling toward officials during an Indiana possession with just over five minutes left in the fourth quarter and the Fever leading the Aces by 23, and after one referee signaled for a technical, Clark, out with a groin injury, immediately jumped up from the bench, started clapping and high-fived White.<\/p>\n<p>Then, after the game when asked about the foul and whether it was frustration boiling over, White smiled before eventually revealing that Clark was paying for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know about frustrations boiling as more to just like making a point,\u201d White <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fLs6ChmqkjE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">told reporters<\/a>. \u201cCaitlin said she got me, though. She just got a bonus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark goes to slap White\u2019s hand. @HeavensFX\/X<\/p>\n<p>Clark celebrates during Friday\u2019s game. @HeavensFX\/X<\/p>\n<p>White was referencing the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/02\/sports\/caitlin-clark-less-fever-rip-lynx-to-capture-commissioners-cup\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fever\u2019s recent Commissioner\u2019s Cup title<\/a> and the share of a $500,000 prize that each player received for the in-season tournament, which they secured even with Clark out with a left groin injury that has sidelined her for Indiana\u2019s last four games.<\/p>\n<p>During her first year coaching Clark and the Fever, White hasn\u2019t attempted to hide her thoughts about the officiating, as she <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/24\/sports\/fever-blast-wnba-for-disrespect-after-ending-against-liberty\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">called out the referees for missing a foul call<\/a> on the final possession of their narrow loss to the Liberty in May.<\/p>\n<p>The Fever, viewed as a group that could contend for the title entering the year, have collected just a 9-8 start after Thursday\u2019s 81-54 win, though Clark \u2014 averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game \u2014 has missed time with an injury at two separate points.<\/p>\n<p>Caitlin Clark clapping during Thursday\u2019s game. @HeavensFX\/X<\/p>\n<p>Stephanie White reacts during the Fever\u2019s game against the Aces on July 3. AP<\/p>\n<p>The Fever will host the Sparks on Saturday, and while it\u2019s unclear if Clark will return, White told reporters earlier in the week that Indiana wants to operate with caution \u2014 and avoid having the injury spiral into something that could impact her availability even after returning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaking progress and feeling good are two different things,\u201d White said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indystar.com\/story\/sports\/basketball\/wnba\/fever\/2025\/07\/02\/caitlin-clark-injury-update-will-indiana-fever-star-play-vs-las-vegas-aces-july-3\/84439269007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to the Indy Star<\/a>. \u201cWe want to make sure that she feels good. We want to make sure that she\u2019s confident.
