{"id":149808,"date":"2025-07-05T20:49:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T20:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/149808\/"},"modified":"2025-07-05T20:49:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T20:49:09","slug":"free-agency-notes-yabusele-knicks-kings-beasley-turner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/149808\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Agency Notes: Yabusele, Knicks, Kings, Beasley, Turner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/y\/yabusgu01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Guerschon Yabusele<\/a>\u2018s two-year deal with the Knicks won\u2019t use the full taxpayer mid-level exception, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Post (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SbondyNBA\/status\/1941576580012376094\" rel=\"nofollow\">Twitter link<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Yabusele\u2019s slight discount will give New York the ability to fill out its 13th and 14th roster spots with one veteran-minimum contract and one rookie-minimum contract for one of the team\u2019s (current or past) second-round picks while remaining below the team\u2019s hard cap at the second <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/01\/hoops-rumors-glossary-tax-aprons-2.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">tax apron<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[RELATED: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/06\/nba-minimum-salaries-for-2025-26.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NBA Minimum Salaries For 2025\/26<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>If Yabusele had received the full taxpayer mid-level, the Knicks would have been roughly $3.53MM below the second apron, so they could have signed one veteran-minimum player ($2.3MM) or one rookie-minimum player ($1.27MM), but not both until after the regular season began.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bondy (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SbondyNBA\/status\/1941579027808124946\" rel=\"nofollow\">Twitter link<\/a>), Yabusele\u2019s deal with the Knicks should still comfortably exceed the salary the Sixers offered him. Bondy says that Philadelphia\u2019s offer \u2013 which Yabusele <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/07\/guerschon-yabusele-talks-knicks-deal-sixers-offer.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">referred to<\/a> as \u201creally low\u201d \u2013 as being worth the \u201c$2.6MM minimum,\u201d but the Frenchman\u2019s minimum salary this season would actually be $2.4MM, so it\u2019s possible Philadelphia went a little above that amount using his <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/04\/hoops-rumors-glossary-non-bird-rights-8.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Non-Bird rights<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 76ers likely didn\u2019t want to hard-cap themselves by using any portion of their taxpayer mid-level exception before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/grimequ01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Quentin Grimes<\/a>\u2018 restricted free agency is resolved.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few more notes and rumors related to free agency:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/07\/free-agent-rumors-kuminga-cp3-horford-westbrook-lillard.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Reporting<\/a> out of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/07\/kings-rumors-sabonis-schroder-kuminga-monk.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sacramento<\/a> earlier this week seemed to suggest the Kings were aggressively pursuing Warriors restricted free agent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kuminjo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jonathan Kuminga<\/a>, but <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/07\/wizards-among-teams-eyeing-jonathan-kuminga.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">subsequent<\/a> reports have suggested nothing is close on that front. According to Matt George of ABC 10 in Sacramento (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MattGeorgeSAC\/status\/1941590568204914889\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Twitter link<\/a>), while the Kings still have interest in Kuminga, they\u2019d be content to complete their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/schrode01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dennis Schr\u00f6der<\/a> acquisition and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/valanjo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jonas Valanciunas<\/a> and then bring that roster into next season. That roster would include both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/monkma01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Malik Monk<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cartede02.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Devin Carter<\/a>, who have both been the subject of trade rumors.<br \/>\nWhile news of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/06\/malik-beasley-under-investigation-for-gambling-allegations.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">federal investigation<\/a> into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/beaslma01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Malik Beasley<\/a> for gambling allegations didn\u2019t go public until June 29, the NBA reached out to the Pistons \u201cseveral\u201d days before free agency opened to let the club know about it, per <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6470182\/2025\/07\/03\/malik-beasley-pistons-gambling-investigation-lawsuit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mike Vorkunov, Jon Krawczynski, and James L. Edwards III of The Athletic<\/a>. The two sides had been in talks on a three-year, $42MM contract that would\u2019ve included a third-year team option, but it now seems unlikely that any team would move forward on a deal with Beasley until that investigation is resolved (assuming he\u2019s cleared).<br \/>\nThe Bucks\u2018 four-year, $107MM <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2025\/07\/bucks-myles-turner-agree-to-four-year-deal.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">agreement<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/turnemy01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-07-05_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Myles Turner<\/a> has been the most surprising deal of free agency so far. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6468789\/2025\/07\/04\/myles-turner-bucks-fit-strengths-weaknesses\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Eric Nehm of The Athletic<\/a> takes a closer look at just what it means for Milwaukee, breaking down Turner\u2019s fit with the team at both ends of the court.
