Whitmore was drafted number 20 in the 2023 draft by the Rockets, but hasn’t been able to earn a starting role. Last season he put up 9.4 points and added 3.4 rebounds per game in 16.2 minutes. It’s expected that Whitmore will have a chance at an expanded role with the Wizards.

Meanwhile the Indiana Pacers have acquired Jay Huff from the Memphis Grizzlies according to a report from Sham Charania of ESPN. The price for the Pacers was a second-round pick and a second-round pick swap. The second round pick is originally from the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland traded it to Philadelphia as part of the trade that brought in Matisse Thybulle, and then it was eventually traded on to Indiana. Huff went undrafted after college, and he spent the first three years of his pro career as a two-way player for the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets. After signing a two-way contract with Memphis in the summer of 2024, he was offered a regular multi-year contract with the Grizzlies in October of 2024. He played in 64 NBA games for Memphis last season, scoring 6.9 points with 2 rebounds per game in 11.7 minutes. With the departure of Myles Turner to Milwaukee, Huff will have an opportunity for increased minutes with the Pacers.

The Washington Wizards have traded for Cam Whitmore and the Indiana Pacers have traded for Jay Huff.
