Despite going up against one of the WNBA’s worst teams, the Indiana Fever couldn’t get the job done as they lost to the Los Angeles Sparks today.<\/p>\n

With superstar Caitlin Clark missing her fourth straight game due to an injury, the combination of Aari McDonald and Sophie Cunningham were once again called upon to fill the void. But today they simply couldn’t as they combined for just eight points and a brutal 0-8 on three-point attempts.<\/p>\n

The starting trio of Natasha Howard, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston did the majority of the heavy lifting with all three accounting for at least 19 points. Boston enjoyed a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. It just wasn’t enough though and the end result was an 89-87 loss to the Sparks.<\/p>\n

Prior to the game, many on social media had noted that the Fever had been playing really well in the absence of Caitlin Clark and didn’t even need her to win games. In fairness, they had won back-to-back games, including a rare win over the Aces.<\/p>\n

By far the biggest voice to make that assertion was women’s basketball legend Carolyn Peck, who asserted on SportsCenter that the Fever would be “more dangerous” without Clark.<\/p>\n

“I think that Indiana is even more dangerous when Caitlin Clark doesn\u2019t play, because she\u2019s a ball-dominant guard,” Peck said in a video that quickly went viral. “The ball\u2019s in her hands a lot, so you know what you need to try to take away. But when you look at Indiana now, they\u2019ve got so many weapons.”<\/p>\n

But after that loss, fans took to social media to mock those who dared argue that the Fever could win without Clark:<\/p>\n

“It turns out the Fever are not more dangerous without Caitlin Clark,” radio personality Robin Lundberg wrote.<\/p>\n

“Shoutout to all the dummies who said the Fever were better without Caitlin! Like HUGE shoutout to you,” wrote another.<\/p>\n

“RIP to ‘The Fever are better without Caitlin Clark’ July 2025-July 2025,” a third wrote.<\/p>\n

“If you can\u2019t see how incredibly limited the Indiana Fever are on offense without Caitlin Clark, you\u2019re either not watching or don\u2019t know what you\u2019re watching.”<\/p>\n

Suffice it to say, Clark’s detractors took an L today.<\/p>\n
