Despite consistently stating that they “have never shown interest in trading Austin Reaves<\/a>,” the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> are once again being linked to trade speculation involving their breakout guard.<\/p>\n

According to The Athletic’s Dan Woike<\/a>, the front office still considers Reaves a long-term piece, but the pressure to improve the roster around LeBron James<\/a> and Luka Doncic<\/a> is beginning to push conversations into uncomfortable territory. As Woike noted, \u201cthere are skeptics around the NBA, mainly because there\u2019s pressure for the Lakers to aggressively upgrade their roster.\u201d<\/p>\n

That pressure has birthed a new hypothetical from Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley<\/a>, who proposed a destination for Austin Reaves: The Toronto Raptors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His value is at an all-time high, especially considering that he only has one guaranteed year remaining on his contract. After rejecting a contract extension offer from the Lakers<\/a> this offseason, Reaves is expected to test free agency in 2026 \u2014 though many believe he will ultimately re-sign with the team as a five-year deal worth up to $246 million<\/a> could be on the table as well.<\/p>\n
