SALT LAKE CITY \u2014 The Utah Jazz have found a trade partner for John Collins.<\/p>\n
Utah is sending Collins to the Los Angeles Clippers in a three-team trade that will land them Kyle Anderson, Kevin Love and a future second-round pick from the Miami Heat, according to ESPN.<\/p>\n
Los Angeles is sending Norman Powell to Miami in the trade.<\/p>\n
And with that, the veteran purge might just be finished.<\/p>\n
Over the last week-plus, the Jazz have moved on from Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson and now Collins. Lauri Markkanen is now the lone veteran holdover from previous seasons.<\/p>\n
Anderson, 31, has two years left on his deal at $9.3 million per season, but his 2026-27 salary is not guaranteed. He could serve as a veteran voice in the locker room \u2014 and his contract probably won’t be too difficult to move if needed.<\/p>\n
Love, meanwhile, could very well join Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook (x2) on the list of former NBA All-Stars who were traded to Utah but never suited up for a game.<\/p>\n
“Never thought I’d be a math problem. Welcome to the NBA,” Love posted on social media following the deal.<\/p>\n
Collins, 27, had a resurgent season for the Jazz in 2024-25. He averaged 19 points and 8.2 rebounds per game and shot nearly 40% from 3-point range. However, he played in only 40 games \u2014 partly due to injuries, but mostly because the Jazz prioritized lottery odds.<\/p>\n
The move frees him and the Jazz from what he previously called a “sticky” situation.<\/p>\n
While it’s not an asset-heavy return, the trade does open up some options for Utah.<\/p>\n
The Jazz create a $26.6 million trade exception by absorbing Anderson and Love using the mid-level exception.<\/p>\n
That frees them up to take on some bad contracts for assets, all while officially handing over the team to the young core.<\/p>\n
Utah has drafted nine players over the last three drafts, seven of whom were first-round picks.
