While the heat of free agency is long gone by now, that doesn\u2019t mean the remaining cast has gone cold. With over a week since free agency began<\/a>, there is a selection of free agents that the Spurs could still go after.<\/p>\n

Of course, the expectations for any player signed past the first few glory days of free agency are low. That is most certainly the case here. The Spurs\u2019 roster is in great shape, and their core rotation has been well-established. However, as you should be aware, depth has never been more crucial. Amidst a grueling 82-game season, injuries happen, and players are worn out, making the value of depth greatly important. At their disposal are a collection of excellent depth pieces that can help the Spurs make the push towards the playoffs that they desperately desire.<\/p>\n

Left Behind Free Agents the Spurs Should Target
\nLandry Shamet Could Provide Beneficial Shooting off the Bench<\/p>\n

In the 2024-25 season, the Spurs finished 20th in three-point shooting percentage. Through the offseason, they haven\u2019t supplemented this poor statistic. While rookies Dylan Harper<\/a> and Carter Bryant<\/a> project to be NBA-ready shooters, the Spurs could still use a true knockdown sharpshooter. Enter Landry Shamet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A career 38.5% three-point shooter, Shamet\u2019s entire game revolves around the deep ball. While he struggles to stick in rotations because of this, he is available for a handful of explosive three-point outbursts every season. He wouldn\u2019t crack the Spurs rotation, but in a three-point pinch, the Spurs could call him up and hope his hand is hot. Sometimes, all it takes is one player to get hot from three for a team to win any given regular season game. Shamet could come in and provide that.<\/p>\n

Chris Boucher Would Add Much-Needed Size to the Spurs Bench<\/p>\n

Long-time Toronto Raptor Chris Boucher<\/a> is one the best remaining unrestricted free agents left on the market. His status on the market has been a surprise, and the Spurs can take advantage.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-9 power forward could inject size into a Spurs bench unit that lacks it. The Spurs are thin at the power forward position and could undoubtedly use some reinforcements. Boucher uses his size effectively on the glass and provides solid defense against opposing wings. However, his most enticing trait is his three-point shooting. Boucher shot 36.3% from beyond the arc last season and has the ability to get hot in an instant. Although he wouldn\u2019t crack the Spurs\u2019 current rotation, he would unquestionably be valuable should either Jeremy Sochan<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Harrison Barnes<\/a> miss time.<\/p>\n

Thomas Bryant is the Perfect Wembanyama Insurace Option<\/p>\n

The health and sustainability of Victor Wembanyama<\/a> throughout the regular season will be a top priority for the Spurs. With that, it is unlikely that the Frenchman plays anywhere close to 82 games. During those games of rest for Wembanyama, it will be crucial for the Spurs to maintain a solid rotation of big men. The Spurs already added Luke Kornet<\/a> to serve as the primary relief for Wembanyama, but there isn\u2019t much after him. To fill this void, a former member of the Eastern Conference Champion Indiana Pacers, Thomas Bryant<\/a>, would be a great fit.<\/p>\n

Bryant is far from a perfect center<\/a>, but he plays the position exactly as would help. The big man can attack the boards, defend the paint, and even display a viable three-point shot in the playoffs. Coming off a NBA Finals run, Bryant knows what it takes to win and could bring that experience to the Spurs\u2019 depth chart.<\/p>\n
