Former Kent State men\u2019s basketball star Sincere Carry was selected to the Detroit Pistons\u2019 summer league team, the organization announced<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n

Carry, 25, is one of 15 players to make the Pistons\u2019 summer league roster. The Pistons will play a minimum of five summer league games, including four preliminary games from July 11-17 in Las Vegas. <\/p>\n

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound guard, who also starred at Solon High School in Solon, Ohio, has not previously played in the NBA or G League. He went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft after a standout collegiate career, including three seasons at Duquesne before his final two at Kent State.<\/p>\n

Carry most recently played for the Phoenix Hagen of the German ProA League in 2024-25, averaging 16.1 points, 4.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 30.2 minutes in 42 games played, according to Eurobasket<\/a>. He also previously played at Iraklis in the Greek Elite League in 2023-24.<\/p>\n

At Kent State, Carry was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year as a redshirt junior in the 2021-22 season, during which he averaged 17.9 points, 4.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n

The following season as a redshirt senior, Carry led the Golden Flashes to winning the MAC Tournament and was named the All-Tournament MVP in the process. He also earned First Team All-MAC honors while averaging 17.5 points, 4.8 assists and 3.7 rebounds in a MAC-leading 36.8 minutes per game.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally I\u2019m just blessed each and every day to play basketball,\u201d Carry said prior to Kent State\u2019s appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, as reported<\/a> by cleveland.com\u2019s Jonathan X. Simmons. \u201cI always thank God first and I feel like he has continued to bless me and put me in different situations and opens up so many doors for me. It\u2019s just fun to share these moments with my brothers, my teammates, and my family. So I just continue to take it day by day. Whatever happens, happens. I\u2019m just happy to play the game of basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt Goul, high school and college sports reporter for cleveland.com, said Carry is \u201cone of Northeast Ohio\u2019s greatest comeback stories in high school basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter enduring two knee injuries, which hindered his initial college recruitment, he returned to form, leading Solon to the Division I state finals as the Cleveland.com Player of the Year,\u201d Goul said. \u201cAs far as I\u2019m concerned, he was the true Mr. Basketball for the state as a senior in 2018. Few players could create like him, especially with any head of steam.\u201d<\/p>\n
