James Borrego will remain as associate head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans for the 2025-26 season. The New York Knicks had interest in hiring Borrego away from the Pelicans to join the staff of Mike Brown. Borrego also interviewed for the Knicks’ head coaching job.<\/p>\n
The Pelicans denied Borrego the opportunity to interview with the Denver Nuggets for their top assistant coach position, which was a signal that he would not be allowed to leave the franchise for a lateral move.<\/p>\n
