NBA biggest offseason losers<\/p>\n

As NBA rosters begin to take shape, which teams have been the biggest losers of the offseason?<\/p>\n

Houston Rockets<\/a> guard Fred VanVleet<\/a> was elected the new president of the National Basketball Players Association during the Board of Player Representatives meeting on Saturday.<\/p>\n

He will begin a four-year term immediately, succeeding CJ McCollum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

VanVleet recently signed a two-year, $50 million contract to stay in Houston. The veteran guard won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors<\/a> in 2019 and was named an All-Star in 2022. He also set records for the highest-paid contract for an undrafted player.<\/p>\n

McCollum, who was recently traded to the Washington Wizards<\/a>, saw his term expire. He had served as NBPA president since August 2021. In 2023, McCollum led the players\u2019 association in negotiations to complete a seven-year collective bargaining agreement.<\/p>\n
