The Phoenix Suns have had a busy offseason thus far as they have made multiple changes to their roster after failing to make the playoffs last season.<\/p>\n

Of course, many expected Phoenix to rebuild their roster this summer around Devin Booker and that is exactly what they have done thus far.<\/p>\n

So far this offseason, the Suns have sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets, acquired Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets and drafted Khaman Maluach, Koby Brea and Rasheer Fleming.<\/p>\n

Another major move the Suns have made this offseason is signing Booker to a record-setting extension as they gave him a two-year, $145 million extension last week to lock him in for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

This was expected to be the case as it is clear that the Suns are looking to retool their roster around Booker and return to being a contender.<\/p>\n

Suns legend Charles Barkley recently appeared on The Dan PatrickShow<\/a> where he gave his honest thoughts about Booker\u2019s massive extension.<\/p>\n

\u201cThink about it, Devin Booker, who’s a hell of a player, going to make $70M a year to dribble a stupid basketball. Why shouldn’t he be in a good mood? He’s the luckiest dude in the world,\u201d Barkley said.<\/p>\n

Of course, Barkley has been critical of player contracts in the NBA since he retired and it is clear that he believes that Booker should be extremely happy with his new contract.<\/p>\n

For Booker, this extension keeps him in Phoenix through the 2029-30 season as the star guard has stayed loyal to the franchise despite their struggles in recent seasons.<\/p>\n

Booker is the Suns\u2019 all-time leading scorer and he also helped lead the franchise to an NBA Finals berth in 2021 before the front office decided to build their big three of him, Durant and Bradley Beal, a decision that did not pan out in their favor.<\/p>\n

Now Booker and the Suns will enter next season looking to turn things around next season with a completely different roster than last season.<\/p>\n
