Former Memphis Grizzlies point guard Yuki Kawamura is one of the few NBA players who doesn’t tower over the common person, a situation that has pros and cons.<\/p>\n

The 5-foot-8-inch, 159-pounder’s relatable stature makes him a fan favorite, and he proves that basketball players can make it to the league without being tall. However, it’s not easy for him to shine at the NBA level. He scored just 1.6 points per game on 36.7 percent shooting across 4.2 minutes as a rookie last season, playing in 22 contests.<\/p>\n

Kawamura did more damage in the G League, averaging 12.4 points on 40 percent shooting (41 percent 3 PT) with 7.8 assists over 31 minutes. The 24-year-old earned a spot in the G League Next Up Game.<\/p>\n

Kawamura signed with a new team<\/a> on Saturday, via ESPN’s Shams Charania.<\/p>\n

“Japanese guard Yuki Kawamura has agreed to a two-way NBA deal with the Chicago Bulls, sources tell ESPN,” he reported. “Bulls finalized the deal with Kawamura’s agents at Wasserman to sign the 5-foot-8 point guard amid a strong summer league.”<\/p>\n

Kawamura averaged 10.2 points on a 41.7 percent clip from deep with 6.2 assists for Chicago in the 2025 Summer League.<\/p>\n

Fans couldn’t contain their excitement on social media.<\/p>\n

“We love hype bench guys,” one said.<\/p>\n
