Jonathan Kuminga is reportedly drawing interest from around the NBA. In recent weeks, the Chicago Bulls<\/a>, Phoenix Suns<\/a> and Sacramento Kings<\/a> have all been linked with the former lottery pick. On Thursday, July 24, ESPN’s Shams Charania<\/a> reported that both Phoenix and Sacramento had made “concrete offers” for the Golden State Warriors <\/a>forward.<\/p>\n

Yet, the Suns could be facing an uphill battle to try to pry Kuminga away from the Bay Area. In a recent report from Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic<\/a>,\u00a0he noted that the Suns lack the necessary trade assets to finalize a deal for Kuminga. It’s worth noting that any trade deal for Kuminga would need to be a sign-and-trade, which would hard cap the acquiring team at the first luxury tax apron. Furthermore, a sign-and-trade is made even more difficult due to the base year compensation rule<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“The Suns have interest in\u00a0Golden State Warriors<\/a>\u00a0forward Jonathan Kuminga, league sources confirmed to The Republic, but are unlikely to land him because they lack the draft capital and assets to deliver in what would be a sign-and-trade for the Warriors,” Rankin reported.<\/p>\n

Kuminga’s future is currently unresolved. He hasn’t been rushing into any decision and is likely to continue fielding offers in the coming weeks. As such, there’s no guarantee he will return to Golden State’s rotation next season, despite that being the easiest route for him and for the franchise.<\/p>\n

The Warriors are yet to make any moves in free agency. They’re likely waiting to resolve Kuminga’s situation before turning their attention elsewhere. However, the longer these negotiations linger, the harder it will be for the Warriors to round out the current roster.<\/p>\n
