Former Reading High star Lonnie Walker IV has signed to play with EuroLeague powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to several reports.<\/p>\n
Walker, a 6-4 shooting guard who played for the Sixers last season after they signed him midway through the year, had spent the first part of last year playing for Lithuania\u2019s Basketball Club \u017dalgiris.<\/p>\n
The Sixers were Walker\u2019s fourth NBA team.<\/p>\n
Walker\u2019s deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv includes an NBA buyout clause until Aug. 1, according to sources, and the contract also features buyout options for July 15, 2026, and July 15, 2027.<\/p>\n
Walker became a free agent after the Sixers declined to pick up his $2.9 million team option before the June 29 deadline.<\/p>\n
He averaged 12.4 points in 20 games after signing a two-year, $3.7 million deal with the Sixers on Feb. 21.<\/p>\n
Walker\u2019s best game for the Sixers was against the Bulls in a season-ending 122-102 loss. He made eight three-pointers and finished with 31 points on April 13 at the Wells Fargo Center.<\/p>\n
In Reading High\u2019s 64-60 win over Pine-Richland to win the state title in 2017, Walker scored 22 points, and had eight rebounds, four steals and three assists. He was a McDonald\u2019s All-America his senior season and Mr. Basketball in Pennsylvania that year.<\/p>\n
After Reading, Walker played one year at the University of Miami, and then was taken by the San Antonio Spurs with 18th pick in the 2018 NBA draft. He has played for the Spurs, Lakers, Nets, and Sixers over seven NBA seasons.<\/p>\n
