Everyone is waiting to find out who will be available for the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> on Friday. That wait might take longer than we\u2019d like. Only Donovan Mitchell received a positive injury update today. Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and De\u2019Andre Hunter remain totally unknown.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: Joe Vardon of The Athletic <\/a>reports there is \u201coptimism\u201d that all three of Mobley, Garland and Hunter will \u201ctry to play\u201d on Friday. <\/p>\n

Head coach Kenny Atkinson said<\/a> that he \u201cdoesn\u2019t anticipate\u201d Mitchell will have any injury label for Friday\u2019s Game 2 against the Indiana Pacers. He confirmed the opposite for Garland, Hunter and Mobley. All three are questionable. <\/p>\n

The Cavs had what Atkinson would describe as a shootaround on Thursday before heading to Indianapolis. No one participated in any contact drill. The three questionable players participated in the shootaround.<\/p>\n

This has been a frustrating process for everyone, including for Atkinson.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so hard with these,\u201d Atkinson said Thursday<\/a> when asked about the injuries, specifically Garland\u2019s, who\u2019s been listed as questionable but missed the team\u2019s last four playoff games. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe only way I can answer that is if I kind of got in their bodies. Otherwise, I\u2019m just playing a guessing game. You just never know. And I do think this is just life in the NBA. I think it\u2019s frustrating for all of us, right? It\u2019s not an indictment on anybody or the players. It\u2019s not any of that. It\u2019s just, you know, injuries are a tough thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garland has been questionable to play since Game 3 of the Miami Heat series. ESPN\u2019s Brian Windhorst <\/a>reassured the fanbase that Garland is \u201ctruly hurt\u201d and struggling with a toe sprain. At a certain point, players can only be so effective with an injury that affects their mobility. Atkinson urged fans to understand this sentiment. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to support him,\u201d Atkinson said<\/a>. \u201cHe wants to desperately get on the court.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hunter dislocated his thumb in Game 1 of the second round. He\u2019ll have four full days of rest before Game 3. It\u2019s unclear if he\u2019ll be able to play.<\/p>\n

Mobley twisted his ankle at the end of Game 1. As of Tuesday, Mobley was still dealing with swelling and unable to put his full weight on the ankle<\/a>. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s impossible to say who will play on Friday. We likely won\u2019t have a concrete answer until shortly before tip-off.
