Former Tigers sideline reporter Johnny Kane has been all but \u201cbooted<\/a>\u201d from the team\u2019s FanDuel Sports Network Detroit broadcasts for 2025 as his \u201csituation is made more complicated by his continued work on Pistons broadcasts,\u201d according to Tony Paul of the DETROIT NEWS. The Pistons, who are on FDSN Detroit but are owned by Tom Gores, are \u201ccomplicating employment matters,\u201d with Kane and Mickey York remaining on the broadcasts at least through \u201cthe end of this season.\u201d There are \u201cmany who believe\u201d Kane might be \u201cthe heir\u201d to Pistons play-by-play voice George Blaha when Blaha retires. If Kane were to \u201cmake the move to remain on the Tigers’ broadcasts,\u201d which are paid by the Ilitch family, he would \u201cprobably have to give up his work with the Pistons.\u201d The Tigers have been \u201cpreparing for the day\u201d when FDSN Detroit is \u201cno longer around,\u201d which is \u201cwhy they employ\u201d play-by-play voice Jason Benetti and why the Ilitches employ reporter Danielle Bruce.
