The\u00a0Boston Celtics<\/a>\u00a0have had players suiting up in a total of 68 different jersey numbers (and have three others not part of any numerical series) since their founding at the dawn of the Basketball Association of America (BAA — the league that would become today’s NBA), worn by well over 500 players in the course of\u00a0Celtics<\/a>\u00a0history.<\/p>\n

To commemorate the players who wore those numbers,\u00a0Celtics<\/a>\u00a0Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.<\/p>\n

With 25 of those jerseys now retired to honor some of the greatest\u00a0Celtics<\/a>\u00a0to wear those jerseys, there is a lot of history to cover.<\/p>\n

And for today’s article, we will continue with the second of six people to wear the No. 19 jersey, Boston forward alum Ed Stanczak. After ending his high school career, Stanczak joined the (defunct) Anderson Packers in 1949 for the first season of his pro career.<\/p>\n

The Fort Wayne, Indiana native would be drafted by Boston in the dispersal draft for the Packers in 1950, and played the last season of his BAA career there.<\/p>\n

During his time suiting up for the Celtics<\/a>, Stanczak wore only jersey Nos. 19 and 21 and put up 3.2 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n
