Bones Hyland<\/a> could get the Minnesota Timberwolves\u2019 final roster spot over Malcolm Brogdon<\/a>, Cameron Payne<\/a> and Landry Shamet<\/a>, according to NBA insider Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hyland signed a two-way contract with the Timberwolves last season in February. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wolves have looked into several candidates for the spot, including Malcolm Brogdon<\/a>, Cam Payne and Landry Shamet<\/a>, league sources told\u00a0The Athletic,\u201d Krawczynski wrote. \u201cHowever, all indications are that Bones Hyland<\/a> is the front-runner to get that final spot, league sources said. Hyland signed a two-way contract with the Wolves in February, played briefly in Iowa and spent the rest of his time with the Timberwolves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hyland played for the Los Angeles Clippers and Timberwolves last season. He averaged 6.2 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 39.8% from the field, 39.0% from beyond the arc and 88.5% from the free-throw line 24 games. <\/p>\n

Brogdon, Payne and Shamet are unrestricted free agents. Brogdon played for the Washington Wizards last season, while Payne and Shamet were with the New York Knicks. <\/p>\n

Brogdon played in 24 games for the Wizards last season. He averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 43.3% from the field, 28.6% from beyond the arc and 88.0% from the free-throw line.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Payne played in 72 games for the Knicks last season. He averaged 6.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 40.1% from the field, 36.3% from beyond the arc and 90.7% from the free-throw line. <\/p>\n

Finally, Shamet played in 50 games for the Knicks last season. He averaged 5.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.5 assists while shooting 46.1% from the field, 39.7% from beyond the arc and 66.7% from the free-throw line. <\/p>\n

The Timberwolves made the conference finals last season for the second consecutive year. They lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games. <\/p>\n

Minnesota is expected to start Mike Conley<\/a>, Anthony Edwards<\/a>, Jaden McDaniels<\/a>, Julius Randle<\/a> and Rudy Gobert<\/a> next season. <\/p>\n
