NBA on Prime, Amazon Prime’s NBA coverage, announced that Wall is joining the platform as an analyst.

This will be Amazon’s first season showing NBA games. Amazon will stream games exclusively on Friday nights through December before adding Thursday and Saturday games later in the season. The knockout round of the NBA Cup in December will stream exclusively on Prime Video. In total, 66 NBA games will be streamed on the platform this season.

According to Michael Lee, Wall will be on Amazon’s studio show, which also includes former NBA stars Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki, and will be hosted by Taylor Rooks. Dwyane Wade, Steve Nash, and Candace Parker will rotate between studio and commentary duties. The broadcasting roster also includes analysts Stan Van Gundy, Dell Curry, Brent Barry, and Udonis Haslem, along with sideline reporters Cassidy Hubbarth, Allie Clifton, and Kristina Pink, and play-by-play announcers Kevin Harlan, Ian Eagle, Michael Grady, and Eric Collins.

In his interview with Lee, Wall said he’s looking forward to sharing thoughts on the game with fans.

“If you never really had the opportunity to sit down and talk to me, you won’t really understand how much I love basketball, where my basketball mind is at, where my IQ is,” Wall said. “I can basically tell you the best player in the country — from girls to boys, high school, to the players that’s in college, to the people that’s at the NBA and WNBA.”

Wall has some broadcast experience, working a few G League Winter Showcase games on ESPN and NBATV last season.

After a thrilling year at Kentucky, Wall was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. He became a five-time NBA All-Star (2014–2018) and earned All-NBA honors in 2017. Unfortunately, injuries cut his career short, but I’m looking forward to hearing his talk about the game from the sidelines. Sure, we all had our hopes up that his “new chapter” would include a spot on Mark Pope’s staff, but this is a nice consolation.

If you’re curious, here is NBA on Prime’s schedule.

Week 1: Opening Week

Oct. 24: Boston at New York — 7:30 PM ET

Oct. 24: Minnesota at Los Angeles — 10:00 PM ET

Week 2: Emirates NBA Cup Group Play

Oct. 31: Boston at Philadelphia — 7 PM ET

Oct. 31: Los Angeles at Memphis — 9:30 PM ET

Week 3: Emirates NBA Cup Group Play

Nov. 7: Houston at San Antonio — 7:30 PM ET

Nov. 7: Golden State at Denver— 10 PM ET

Week 4: Emirates NBA Cup Group Play

Nov. 14: Miami at New York — 7 PM ET

Nov. 14: Golden State at San Antonio — 9:30 PM ET

Week 5:

Nov. 21: Indiana at Cleveland — 7:00 PM ET

Nov. 21: Denver at Houston — 9:30 PM ET

Week 6:

Nov. 28: Milwaukee at New York — 7:30 PM ET

Nov. 28: Dallas at Los Angeles — 10:00 PM ET

Week 7:

Dec. 5: Los Angeles at Boston — 7:00 PM ET

Dec. 5: Dallas at Oklahoma City — 9:30 PM ET

Week 8: Emirates NBA Cup

Dec. 9: TBD at TBD — TBD (Quarterfinal)

Dec. 9: TBD at TBD — TBD (Quarterfinal)

Dec. 10: TBD at TBD — TBD (Quarterfinal)

Dec. 10: TBD at TBD — TBD (Quarterfinal)

Dec. 13: TBD at TBD — TBD (Semifinal)

Dec. 13: TBD at TBD — TBD (Semifinal)

Week 9: Emirates NBA Cup

Dec. 16: TBD at TBD — TBD (Championship)

Dec. 19: Philadelphia at New York — 7:00 PM ET

Dec.19: Oklahoma City at Minnesota — 9:30 PM ET

Week 10:

Dec. 26: Boston at Indiana — 7:30 PM ET

Dec. 26: LA at Portland — 10:00 PM ET

Week 11:

Jan. 2: Atlanta at New York — 7:30 PM ET

Jan. 2: Oklahoma City at Golden State — 10:00 PM ET

Week 12:

Jan. 10: Minnesota at Cleveland — 1:00 PM ET

Week 13 (Jan 12 – Jan 18)

Jan. 15: Memphis at Orlando — 2:00 PM ET

Jan. 15: Oklahoma City at Houston — 7:30 PM ET

Jan. 15: New York at Golden State — 10:00 PM ET

Jan. 18: Orlando at Memphis — 12:00 PM ET

Week 14:

Jan. 22: Golden State at Dallas — 7:30 PM ET

Jan. 22: Los Angeles at LA — 10:00 PM ET

Jan. 23: Houston at Detroit — 7:00 PM ET

Jan. 23: Indiana at Oklahoma City — 9:30 PM ET

Week 15:

Jan. 29: Milwaukee at Washington — 7:00 PM ET

Jan. 29: Oklahoma City at Minnesota — 9:30 PM ET

Jan. 31: San Antonio at Charlotte — 3:00 PM ET

Week 16:

Feb. 5: Chicago at Toronto — 7:30 PM ET

Feb. 5: Philadelphia at Los Angeles — 10:00 PM ET

Feb. 6: New York at Detroit — 7:30 PM ET

Feb. 6: LA at Sacramento — 10:00 PM ET

Feb. 7: Dallas at San Antonio — 6:00 PM ET

Week 17:

Feb. 12: Milwaukee at Oklahoma City — 7:30 PM ET

Feb. 12: Dallas at Los Angeles — 10:00 PM ET

Week 18:

Feb. 19: Detroit at New York — 7:30 PM ET

Feb. 19: Boston at Golden State — 10:00 PM ET

Week 19:

Feb. 26: Houston at Orlando — 7:30 PM ET

Feb. 26: Minnesota at LA — 10:00 PM ET

Feb. 28: Houston at Miami — 3:00 PM ET

Week 20:

Mar. 5: Golden State at Houston — 7:30 PM ET

Mar. 5: Los Angeles at Denver — 10:00 PM ET

Mar. 7: Orlando at Minnesota — 3:00 PM ET

Week 21:

Mar. 12: Philadelphia at Detroit — 7:00 PM ET

Mar. 12: Boston at Oklahoma City — 9:30 PM ET

Mar. 13: New York at Indiana — 7:30 PM ET

Mar. 13: Minnesota at Golden State — 10:00 PM ET

Mar. 14: Milwaukee at Atlanta — 3:00 PM ET

Week 23:

Mar. 28: San Antonio at Milwaukee — 3:00 PM ET

Week 24:

Apr. 2: Los Angeles at Oklahoma City — 7:30 PM ET

Apr. 2: Cleveland at Golden State — 10:00 PM ET

Apr. 4: San Antonio at Denver — 3:00 PM ET

Week 25:

Apr. 9: Boston at New York — 7:30 PM ET

Apr. 9: Los Angeles at Golden State — 10:00 PM ET

Apr. 10: Cleveland at Atlanta — 7:30 PM ET

Apr. 10: Oklahoma City at Denver — 10:00 PM ET

Yesterday, John Wall announced he is retiring from basketball;
