{"id":242672,"date":"2025-08-21T03:52:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T03:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/242672\/"},"modified":"2025-08-21T03:52:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T03:52:10","slug":"lore-rodriguez-lay-off-many-within-two-months-of-taking-over-timberwolves-and-lynx-twin-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/242672\/","title":{"rendered":"Lore, Rodriguez lay off many within two months of taking over Timberwolves and Lynx \u2013 Twin Cities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fewer than two months after taking controlling ownership of the Timberwolves and Lynx, Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez laid off roughly 40 employees Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/08\/20\/lore-rodriguez-lay-off-just-under-10-of-t-wolves-business-staff-in-operational-restructuring\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to Sports Business Journal.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>No one in basketball operations was included in the lay offs, but those in \u201cbusiness operations spanning human resources, marketing, sales and creative\u201d were included in the departures, per the report.<\/p>\n<p>The report called the layoffs an \u201coperational restructuring\u201d that took place after a seven week assessment period. But the lengthy period of time between the ownership transfer and this week\u2019s decisions is interesting considering Lore and Rodriguez have been entrenched in the organization since entering the fold in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not unusual for new owners to want to come in and hire their own people to fill key positions.
