The Sacramento Kings could trade Devin Carter<\/a> to open up a spot for Russell Westbrook<\/a>, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of The Stein Line<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Kings are the only team interested in Westbrook, who played for the Denver Nuggets last season. <\/p>\n

\u201cSources say that Sacramento continues to covet Russell Westbrook to join Dennis Schr\u00f6der<\/a> as a marquee newcomer to Sacramento\u2019s backcourt, but a trade of some sort to ease the Kings\u2019 backcourt logjam could well be needed first,\u201d Fischer wrote. \u201cYet there are some around the league who see\u00a0Devin Carter\u00a0as the incumbent King more likely to be moved to help facilitate a Westbrook signing rather than Malik Monk<\/a>. The Providence product, of course, was drafted by the Kings when their front office was helmed by the since-departed Monte McNair.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Kings selected Carter with the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The youngster played in only 36 games last season, averaging 3.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.1 blocks..<\/p>\n

Westbrook appeared in 75 games for the Nuggets in 2024-25. The future Hall of Famer averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.5 blocks while shooting 44.9% from the field, 32.3% from 3 and 66.1% from the free-throw line.<\/p>\n

The 2017 MVP, Westbrook turns 37 in November. He has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Nuggets. Westbrook has the most triple-doubles in NBA history (203).<\/p>\n

A nine-time All-Star, Westbrook has career averages of 21.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.3 blocks. He has made nine All-NBA teams during his iconic playing career.<\/p>\n

The Kings missed the playoffs last season. They traded De\u2019Aaron Fox<\/a> to the San Antonio Spurs and acquired Zach LaVine<\/a> from the Chicago Bulls in February. <\/p>\n

This offseason, Sacramento acquired Schr\u00f6der from the Detroit Pistons in a sign-and-trade deal, traded Jonas Valan\u010di\u016bnas<\/a> to the Nuggets for Dario \u0160ari\u0107<\/a> and signed Drew Eubanks<\/a>.<\/p>\n
