All you need to know about Orlando Magic&#8217;s head coach"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After years of struggle, the Orlando Magic are finally among the title contenders in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n<p>Since the departure of <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/tag\/dwight-howard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Dwight Howard<\/a> in 2012, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/tag\/orlando-magic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Orlando Magic<\/a> have been in search of their next cornerstone superstar.<\/p>\n<p>Well, their search ended with No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/tag\/paolo-banchero\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Paolo Banchero<\/a>. While Banchero has played just three seasons, the Magic have made it to the postseason twice.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Banchero and Co. deserve praise, but so does their head coach, Jamahl Mosley, for leading the team from the sidelines.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"941\" height=\"627\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2200084400-1-941x627.jpg\" alt=\"Head coach Jamahl Mosley of the Orlando Magic reacts during the second quarter against the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena.\" class=\"wp-image-142727\" \/>Photo by Todd Kirkland\/Getty ImagesJamahl Mosley\u2019s early NBA coaching experience<\/p>\n<p>Following a four-year NCAA career with Colorado, Mosley went undrafted in the 2001 NBA Draft. While Mosley never played in the league, he did begin his NBA journey in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Mosley joined the <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/tag\/denver-nuggets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Denver Nuggets<\/a> as an assistant\/player development coach. He spent four seasons with the franchise before joining the <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/tag\/cleveland-cavaliers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> as an assistant coach.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, he stayed with the organization for four years before departing for an assistant coach role with the <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/tag\/dallas-mavericks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Dallas Mavericks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mosley was seemingly a good fit for the Mavs, as he would go on to spend seven seasons under head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaanalysis.net\/who-is-rick-carlisle-all-you-need-to-know-about-indiana-pacers-head-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Rick Carlisle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, in 2020, Mosley left the franchise at the same time as coach Carlisle. This time around, Mosley didn\u2019t join any team as an assistant coach.<\/p>\n<p>Jamahl Mosley has transformed the Orlando Magic<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Mosley found the first-ever head coaching job of his NBA career with the Magic. In his first season, the Magic finished with a terrible 22-60 record.<\/p>\n<p>But it ended up being a blessing in disguise for Mosley as the Magic landed the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. With Banchero on the roster, the Magic improved to a 34-48 record.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2023-24 NBA season, Mosley showcased his brilliance as the Magic finished the campaign with a 47-35 record. The franchise also earned its first playoff berth since 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Mosley was heavily praised for his efforts, as he also finished second in the NBA\u2019s Coach of the Year race.<\/p>\n<p>If it weren\u2019t for injuries, Mosley\u2019s Magic would have likely finished with a better record than 41-41 during the 2024-25 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"After years of struggle, the Orlando Magic are finally among the title contenders in the Eastern Conference.
