The New York Knicks will have the same core players for the 2025-26 season, but will be led by a new name as they continue to pursue the team’s first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.<\/p>\n

After firing head coach Tom Thibodeau this offseason, the Knicks agreed to terms with longtime NBA coach Mike Brown. He’ll now be the lead man for New York moving forward.<\/p>\n

With the core stars in Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, New York still has a roster spot to fill as the NBA season gets closer to its start.<\/p>\n

Knicks linked to Landry Shamet, Seth Curry, and Alec Burks to fill veteran spot<\/p>\n

New York still has the opportunity to sign a proven player to a veteran-minimum contract. The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III believes<\/a> that several players could be a fit, including Landry Shamet, Seth Curry, and Alec Burks.<\/p>\n

Shamet, 28, played for the Knicks last season and has already built chemistry with the squad. In 50 appearances last season, he averaged 15.2 minutes per game while shooting 46.1% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range.<\/p>\n

Curry, 35, has experience adjusting to new teams often. He’s played for nine different franchises in his career and, like his brother Stephen, has always been a reliable guard who can shoot from anywhere on the court. In 2024-25, he shot 47.8% from the field and 45.6% from three,<\/p>\n

Burks, 34, like the other veterans mentioned, has also played for numerous teams in his 14-year career. Most recently with the Miami Heat, Burks was just as consistent a scorer as Shamet and Curry, finishing last season with shooting percentages of 42.4% from the field and 42.5% from three-point range.<\/p>\n
