With that pick, they drafted a high-potential prospect in French forward Noa Essengue. Furthermore, the Bulls made moves in the second round to obtain former UC Riverside forward Lachlan Olbrich, who played with the Illawarra Hawks this past season.

Both forwards showed flashes of their potential as players at Summer League. They certainly have the potential to provide the Bulls with much-needed hope for the future as they develop. Let’s delve into the three reasons why the Chicago Bulls won the 2025 NBA Draft.

3 Reasons Why The Chicago Bulls Won The 2025 NBA Draft
#1: Adding To The Frontcourt

Undoubtedly, the Bulls lack any meaningful long-term depth in the frontcourt aside from Matas Buzelis. None of the other forwards on the team have popped like Buzelis has, and someone like Patrick Williams is both overpaid and has disappointed relative to their draft position. Most of the current frontcourt players will almost certainly not factor into Chicago’s future.

Considering that, acquiring two big forwards who have interesting skills and potential is a major win for the Bulls in terms of long-term building. Essengue and Olbrich can slot into different slots in the frontcourt, aiding the team’s depth. Specifically, Essengue has the size and athleticism to slot in at the power forward and small forward positions. As for Olbrich, he can provide depth at power forward and slot in as a center in certain matchups.

#2: Athleticism At The Forward Spot

Another big win for Chicago is coming away from the draft with one of the better athletes in the class. Essengue possesses an excellent combination of physical tools and overall athleticism that allows him great versatility as a player. On defense, Essengue’s athleticism translates into the utilization of his mobility and length against opposing players. He has the burst and overall speed to switch onto and defend guards, also using his length to bother opposing players. Speaking of which, Essengue has shown great flashes of using his wingspan to be a good defensive playmaker. In particular, Essengue demonstrated an understanding of his length to bother or block shots around the rim. Plus, he is good at using it to jump passing lanes for steals as well.

As for the offensive end, Essengue clearly demonstrates his athleticism in transition. He runs the floor incredibly well and can throw down powerful dunks at the rim. Even in the half-court, Essengue’s athleticism allows him to get to the rim and finish over opposing defenders. Having a player with the athleticism Essengue possesses will pair well next to Buzelis as a forward duo. Their combined length and athleticism can be a great foundation for the Bulls on both ends of the floor for years to come.

#3: Intriguing Offensive Potential

Both Bulls rookies bring intriguing offensive potential to a Chicago team that badly needs such upside. As mentioned before, Essengue’s athleticism and physical tools make him a credible threat at the rim and in transition. Not only is Essengue great at getting to the rim as a lanky forward, but he is excellent at drawing contact and going to the free-throw line. Having someone like Essengue who can get to the rim or line is a valuable skill set regardless of position.

As for Olbrich, he brings an impressive passing and ball-handling game to his overall offensive arsenal as a combo big. He has demonstrated good passing vision and feel out on the court. He utilizes his post ability and his ball-handling to create opportunities to find open teammates. Considering the past few years, having such skills as a forward-center hybrid is a valuable skill set to have.

© Brad Penner-Imagn Images

Similar to other Eastern Conference teams such as the Sixers and the Wizards, the Chicago Bulls had a…

[5
30,7,5940,6,12,2282
0":"post-264440","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nba-draft","8":"tag-2025-nba-draft","9":"tag-basketball","10":"tag-lachlan-olbrich","11":"tag-nba","12":"tag-nba-draft","13":"tag-noa-essengue
["GET
