The Brooklyn Nets<\/a> are a few weeks away from officially beginning the 2025-26 NBA season once training camp starts later this month in preparation for the regular season. Brooklyn has a different roster after selecting five players in the 2025 NBA Draft, but there may be some cause to pause knowing that the power forward position on the team is lacking.<\/p>\n

HoopsHype recently put out its list<\/a> of the top-26 players at the power forward position for the 2025-26 season and the Nets<\/a> did not have a player that made the list. For context, Brooklyn’s projected power forward is Noah Clowney, but that will depend on where head coach Jordi Fernandez and the coaching staff decide to go with the entire lineup following the conclusion of training camp.<\/p>\n

This continues a trend of the Nets’ roster being viewed in a dim light, so to speak, given that Egor Demin<\/a>, the projected starting point guard, and Cam Thomas<\/a>, the projected starting shooting guard, did not make the list for their respective positions. Michael Porter Jr., the projected starting small forward, ranked<\/a> 13th on the list for his position, but the outlook of the starting lineup is not looking good so far.<\/p>\n

Clowney, 21<\/a>, is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he averaged 9.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 35.8% from the field and 33.3% from three-point land. Clowney played in just 46 games last season as he dealt with a variety of injuries, but it seems that the door is open for him to be the starting power forward to begin the season with players like forwards Dorian Finney-Smith and Cam Johnson no longer on the team.<\/p>\n

Interestingly enough, Finney-Smith, now with the Houston Rockets<\/a>, and Johnson, currently on the Denver Nuggets<\/a>, rank 24th and ninth on the list, respectively. As HoopsHype’s Frank Urbina points out in the beginning of this ranking, these lists are meant to be projections based on players and their roles. The hope is that Clowney can turn a corner in the 2025-26 season and potentially end up on the list for the next campaign.<\/p>\n
