Maine-native and basketball phenom Cooper Flagg will find out on Monday where he’s most likely going to be taking his talents for his pro career.<\/p>\n
The 18-year-old Newport-native is widely expected to be the first pick in the upcoming NBA draft.<\/p>\n
The league is holding the draft lottery on Monday to find out the order teams will be picking in.<\/p>\n
The teams with the best odds of landing the top pick are the Utah Jazz, the Washington Wizards and the Charlotte Hornets.<\/p>\n
The lottery is on Monday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.<\/p>\n
The 6-foot-9 forward was just 17 when he arrived at Duke after reclassifying to graduate early from high school.<\/p>\n
Flagg was named the John R. Wooden Award winner as the nation’s top men’s player, beating Auburn’s Johni Broome by 178 votes. He is Duke’s eighth Wooden winner, the most of any school.<\/p>\n
He averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steals to lead the Blue Devils in each category.<\/p>\n
Flagg was also named The Associated Press men’s college basketball national player of the year, becoming only the fourth freshman to win the award in its 64-year history.<\/p>\n
